I would like to say that the eyes should be in the middle of the head, on your pic they seem to be a little too high.. And in most of my potraits I try not to use too much black in the face more dark skin tone colors...

Sorry if this does not help..

Im sure she will like it. Its from the heart right? what girl wouldnt like a picture drawn of them? It shows that you focused on her even when she wasnt around and that you thought about her even when you didnt have to. What a good guy. Hope you get your loven!

Good Idea for a gift. Nothing shows more love than a gift made by you (except maybe a ring ). I'm acutally trying to work up the courage to ask a beautiful girl out.

But enought about me, back to your pic: If you post the original pic, maybe we could give better suggestions. Right now the shadows seem to dark, like she's been working in a cole mine the whole.

`What sort of people live about here?' asked Alice.

`In that direction,' the Cat said, waving its right paw round, `lives a Hatter: and in that direction,' waving the other paw, `lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad.'

`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.

`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad...'

hey proximo the drawing looks really good man, I'm sure she will love it
whats ruining it at the moment is the muddy tones. Try and keep it more subtle and it will work beter. I painted over quickly to show u what I meant, I hope it helps you. Its still a little flat like this, could use some more lighting but remeber to try and stay subtle. Anyway, goodluck with it!

Hye proximo..looking at the ref pic, the features in the painted version are too far from each other.

The lips and hair line are pretty accurate, but the nose a little bit off. The real problem are the eyes, they are way too high, into her forehead actually! In the ref picture, her forehead has a larger space to roam in.

Basically, if you move the eyes and the nose an inch down, it should get you closer You may want to try the "grid" method for accurate portraits

Hope this helps!

Heyhey, heres lil help ya need more i think...well, the tone on eyes is bit too dark, try to use not so black colors...use dark, but not 100% black...eyes are too dark.
Then the lips on the reff kind of flow into the face, you cant see no strong line, but your pic has strong line where thye lips end.
And true, you have to bring the eyes more down, nose not so much, but eyes, yes.
And the hairline is way too strong, but as far its a work in progress, it might be all done...BTW, the idea of gift is really high...u will get what you deserve

I painted over your first pic hope ya dont mind, not sure if my changes look any more like her. anyway its like the other guys have said already soften up those black lines not so dark pay close attention to the values. Raised the forehead and brought the eyes and nose closer to the mouth. Also i find that it helps thinking of things in terms of shapes.
