Hi all, I've been going through an art slump and all I've been able to do is little doodles in my sketch book.
Here's an image I did yesterday in PS. I want to make her look realistic, it has taken me about an hour and a half so far without reference, but I'm having trouble taking the image any further (aside from tightening it up). Any advice on colours, lighting etc... would be of great help.
Thanks again

I like the colors and the overall feel of the picture, but there are a few anatomy problems.
Most noticably, her right eye seems skewed. The iris is too big, too far to the side, and the pupil is off-center. The highlight on her nose is dead-center, but for the rest of the face, the light source seems to be off to our left. Her hair also seems to be too tall. If you use the rule that your eyes are midway between your chin and the top of your head, well, that can tell you where the top of her head should be. You'll probably also need to give her a little less forehead to make this work. And um, her ears aren't finished. I can't wait to see the next revision.

the thingz I saw were that the nose might be a little small, and the eyes just a tad far apart. but that's only if I wanted to be really whiny.
it looks nice. Look forward to seeing a more advanced version

Hi all.
Isric: Thank you, it means a lot coming from you!
Waylon, thank you for the helpful advice. I treid playing around with it, but I'm having a lot of trouble with that eye area. As for your other tips, I will implement them as soon as possible.
IntenZ: thanks, you're right the nose is pretty small and the eyes are a bit far apart. Thanks!
Hi dannorthcott, thank you for your version, it helps me to see things from another perspective. I have a habit of making eyes slanted for girls becasue it helps them look more feminine, but that only works for cartoons I guess . I think the reason why the majority of my image is wonky because the centreline is on a slant, and so every other feature is on a slant too. I'll try to make her more upright

hey dude, looks good. I played around with it a little, hope this helps.
The blue lines: The three sections should be equal distances. You should notice that the center section is larger than the others. This means the eyes should be a little closer together.
The red lines: Even a person with slanted eyes would not have them slanted THAT much. Try to unslant them a little.
Here's what I came up with.
Have fun, its lookin really good. |

now that i look at it again, i think i made her left eye a little too far in - just so you don't make the same mistake. |
