Hi.

This is my first visit to this forum. I've only just started to draw. I have mostly done sketches on paper, but now I have started to color my sketches in Illustrator.

This is an image i've been working on for a couple of days. It's not complete yet. I will make some more characters and make some kind of a group picture later.

What do you think? Check this link: http://www.kompisarna.nu/oscar/progress.gif for udpate.

I have made som more sketches. Have a look at http://www.kompisarna.nu/oscar/skisser.htm

- bye for now -

Very nice. One thing I would suggest is adding stronger shadows and highlights. One of the biggest problems with digital colouring is not shading strongly enough, which leaves figures with a flat, cartoony look.

Thanks for the tips. I will try it.

It is supposed to look kind of cartoonish though, but i will work on the highlights.

Please everyone, add more critic.

This is good, for someone who is just starting out, you got alot of the portion right, like arm length, and torso size, the only strong problem I see is the face. Faces are hard to do, especially when you are just beganing to draw, right now it kinda looks like your character was trying to put on make-up during a bar fight.. A good way to get faces down, is to get a sketch pad, and go to a public place like a a park, or a mall... and just draw people.. Do pages and pages of just faces and facial expressions..
Eventually, you will be able to do them without a thought...
