This is a very work in progress background for a pic I'm working on at the moment. I don't know how many of you are registered students (or just rich), but if you can get a student subscription to The National Geographic then I personally think it's very good value. It's an excellent source of reference material.

Awetopsy: Practice practice practice!
Danny: I'll actually keep it secret for now. Some people on #digitalart have had a peep.
girish: I used Painter Classic with the ultrafine wash brush with a circular bristle. I also used the water brush for smoothing out areas. The water brush works slightly differently from the blend tool in Photoshop.
