Hi all. New to the Forum, but it seemed a perfect place to get help with an issue that's been bothering me for a while.

I haven't been doing digital colouring for very long, but I find backgrounds quite difficult. I love painting landscapes with oils, however, and I was hoping to find a way to merge the two. Below is my first attempt, and it isn't really satisfying. Beyond reflecting colour onto the figure I'm not sure what else to try to blend the two. Any advice would be appreciated!

(I know the figure has problems...this was just an experimental piece, so I wasn't very worried about her.)

the landscape looks great, but i get a feeling that the landscape is a scan and the girl is a paint-on, am i right ? (IMO)
soften the contours alittle more, and try to get that uneaven texture on her as the bg has...

and about the girl, her face is out of proportions...(the cheekbone mostly i guess) or the shadow on her cheekbone..

well thats my 2 cents worth of rambling

[edit = realised that i didnt read what he had written *sigh*] [/edit]

looks a bit Elmore-ish

If you want to merge the figure with the bg you could see that you delete all the back borders you have on the figure.. otherwise they seem to have the same contrast and brightness so that should not be a problem.

damn.. i have a smiley problem today again

gotta take my medicine
