OK... So Ive never painted. (not entirely true, I painted a tree when I was inthe 3rd grade). My main medium is pencil. I decided to take some of the tips and knowledge gained from these forums and attempt a small picture. I get knee deep into it and my pen and or tablet decides to DIE!... So now it doesnt work. Anyhow..
First off, please IGNORE THE DRAWING aspect. This was a 10 second sketch just so I could have area to color.

My main problem is getting crisp edges. I used a sharpen filter as I saved this to get rid of the blur, but I dont want to have to rely on filters. I used pencil/paint, airbrush and smudge. For paint/air I had the stylus set for Opacity. Smudge was pressure. Any help would rock....ofcourse now I have to wait til I get my tax returns to get me a good tablet. Thanks in advance!

As far as Im concerned midflower and up is finished. I was working onthe stem when the pen croaked.

I like the backlighting.. but the main light needs some work.. it looks like its coming from three dif directions.. the petal in front seems to have light coming from lower left.. while the left petal seems to have light from mid left and the top has light from top left... try making your lightsource more absolute...

hope that helps..

I'm having trouble with edges too, I haven't tried the sharpen tool yet.. but I agree, I would like to get sharp edges without those tools.
