Yep, Evercrack, the bane of my existence, the only thing I've been seriously addicted to and the one true reason my skills aren't what they should be right now
Anywho, I'm two months clean but the reason is because I'm in the middle of doing a few character portraits by request. Thought this WIP forum would be the perfect place to post my progress as I go along...maybe somebody will get something outta this. I've got a couple stages of the progress to show and I'll post further stages as I continue into the progress. Of course any comments, critques and suggestions are welcome otherwise why would I post? *shrug*
Ok, here we go...

Yahh
This is looking good, This could come out looking better than the box art. Dont get me wrong, the box art was done well but the poses of the characters on it I thought sucked. You should give it to them so they can change box covers
Good work so far

Hey cool pose. Yeah i played everquest the day it came out and my friend got pick to do some beta testing man the game it self was better during the beta test days. Anywyas i played for 2 years and then i quit... Which was really hard at first but then i noticed that this game was a drug and you could actually accomplish better things with your time. From time to time i still get the urge to get the old credit card out and subscribe again to the game BUt im resist =)... Was a very fun and awesome game perhaps the best game i have everplayed. Its the best role playing game out there in my opinion. Since in that game you can controle every movement you make and everythign you say and you are actually the character in the game...Compared to other rpg where you talk to npc's and well it all ends the samething no matter what you answers and their are alot you cant do in those games. Well just some thoughs about the game.
peace out |

Blitz: Heh, wouldn't compare me to Parkinson just yet (or ever perhaps ) but honestly, I don't know what he was thinking when he did the Iksar on the Velious box cover, doesn't look anything like the Iksar on the Kunark box =/ At least it seems that people really dig the way I depicted Iksar in my first piece, an Iksar necromancer, which is why this guy contacted me to do this one.
Psionic: Thanks
Xar: Thanks, but what would you do with the swords? That one floating to the right is a 30 sec sketch of a basic sword design I'm proposing to the client instead of that standard short sword look that his swords actually have. Think I saw that kind of sword in a vebjorn sketch the other day. I worked on the blades for awhile to get that frost rimmed look but didn't spend any time on the hilt if that's what you meant by needing work. Hehe, funny, I just got an e-mail back from the client...he likes the current swords better. I'll work to make them look better at least. Oh, and I play as Flinthawk Firestrike or Kyslik on the Rathe.
eetu: Funny how this was the last pose I came up with to present to the client and not the one I woulda picked. He likes the proud look it gives off though.
Plouffe: yep, definitely one of the best games I've played, despite numerous drawbacks. I started playing with some friends of mine a week or two after release, went for a few months then stopped for almost a year before I moved for my currrent job. Some other friends of mine thought that if they bought EQ then we'd be able to stay in touch digitally I was still paying the monthly fee (somehow I knew I'd be back) so my characters were still there. But yeah, I started to find myself thinking of all the better, more productive things I could've been doing like making myself a better artist in particular. O, what a time sink the game can be but it's fun as long as there're friends on. I haven't logged on in almost two months though
Thanks for the compliments all. More are appreciated as I'll be working on this through the week.

Aye, getting paid for this one and two others. My first commission was this guy down below, posted him awhile back. They liked it so much that I'm doing another one for them, one of the three that I mentioned. I'm still getting e-mails from people because of this guy here below...
It's a little dark but that's how they wanted it...customer's always right (well, not really but you know what I mean )

Just an update here. Cleaned up the gold and black trim some, still working on it a bit...needs more of a yellow gold quality I think. Also worked a tad on the boots, toes and the tail though the tail is only in the beginning stages. Haven't touched the weapons yet but I'll get to those as well as the chain mail soon. I've gotta find a good way to pull off that damn chain mail, too. Downloaded some source photos to see how I'm gunna pull chain mail off *curses Verant for making a suit of armor out of all chain mail*
Spring, never thought of that before...he does look a bit like him but blame Verant for that, I mean, they designed him, hehe Ugh, you just reminded me of how much I hate fighting against Lizardman, too. He looks sooo cool but he's such a pain to fight sometimes.
Anyway, any further comments are always appreciated.

You might check out some of the Pre-Raphielite Brotherhood-they did allot of Knight-in-Shinning-Armour stuff.... or...
...pst, hey, mister...over here, ya- I'm talk'n to you. No! Keep your voice down- we don't want the Digital Police coming down on us. Look what I got here... that's right, chain mail textures. Got 'em off an SCA Armour makers site... from p h o t o s. Desaturated the suckers, scaled 'em and stretched to fit. Hey, no problem: first ones free. You know where to find me if you need...say...something more primitive, like chainmail depicted on statuary...
Thanx for posting a sequence- nice to see how you work. How many layers are we looking at, by-the-way. Only constructive crit: head seems abit disconnected. Perhapse some reflected light off the collar would tie it in.
Keep up the good work.
