Well, I guess I've been hanging around long enough. I guess it's time to post again. Here is a painting that I just started earlier today. It is done with reference (Victoria's Secret special clearance catalog, the model is Daniella Pastovavich (sp?)). It's only like the 2nd or 3rd painting I've attempted in Photoshop with my Wacom (besides textures) and I think I'm actually getting a little better. Oh yeah, the picture.

Hello Meaty,
I like what you've got so far with the torso. The interior of her left elbow could use more work, but not too bad. The hand needs much more refininement.
The biggest thing that sticks out to me is the head, its frickin huge I see no chin and no forehead, and I'm pretty sure she's supposed to have them. I would scale down the head. Maybe scan the ref. and work with it along side the painting, pay close attention to mass and proportion, save the details until afterward. However I think you're on the right track for facial details, but one step at a time.
Glad to see you posting. You should post more often

Thanks, Skeezer, I had a feeling that you and Blitz would be the only ones to reply but alas, I don't even get the wisdom of Blitz..
I'll try to have another update up in a day or two along with what I'm doing in 3d.
I've been trying to avoid scanning the original reference because I would be way to tempted to just put it in a background layer under my pic and start sampling colors and tracing lines, and well, I wouldn't learn anything that way. |
