I just went to a seminar at the Alberta College of Art and Design (the college I'm going to apply for) and got so inspired I almost peed myself. I'm also meeting with a commercial creative director for lunch to talk about art college and such. So I'm on my way up finally. Just thought I would share that little bit of news.

Second, here are two pictures I did a while ago. I won't describe them, but if you can help make these look even better, knock yourself out.

Thanks in advance

OOooo, cool. Great lighting in both of these. The second one feels really cold and icy and also gives a great sense of scale. Congrats on the latest news, too.

Hi Isric. I really like the second pic. The colours and scale make it a very nice pic.
The first one is nice also. I like the tones and atmophere. The figure seems very elongated, but I assume this was done on purpose? Anyway, nice stuff

That first one has a real sense of forboding to it. an emotional mood is immidiatly set by it.

The second is well done. Nice job conveying that its an icy floor, but even still it lacks something. Maybe something in the center to add balance, maybe a giant Ice palace like from that two part episode of Magyver from back in the eighties The one with the ice mummy!

Just a though.

I don't consider myself qualified to critique ANYONE'S art, let alone your work Isric, as you are quite talented; but I have to say something.

You have the most incredible sense of design. The only thing I find myself "craving" from your work is tightened strokes. I wish you would develop your work more. Every single piece I see from you has the potential to be REALLY great if a little more time was spent. I realize that you might just wanna do something quick, but if you took the time to detail and tighten that second pic for instance, I think it could be RRREEALLLYYY spectacular. I would be extremely interested in seeing you at least attempt it.. as I said, you are quite a talent, and at such a young age, I would really like to see you grow..

Just a thought, don't mind me

Here's a little bit of a clean up...kind of.
I know I never really Finish anything. I've always sort of seen it as a part of my style. Is a that loose energy a legitimate asset? A lot of paintings I've seen by great masters are incredible but aren't 'tight'. Jsut a question.

Anyway. I added the bridge just because. I don't like the bridge. The design, size, perspective, but it's there right now. Any ideas would be keen.

Further comments?

Great stuff ISric! I can see you finally got that sense of scale on that..2nd picture. hehehe. But anyway, I think that the branch that guys sitting on is a little washed out. Soem kind of fog im assuming, but I dont know, just looks a bit odd to me. But anway, everything is coming along great. LIke the reflection you got on the ice as well. I've also noticed that all the colors are generally really similar shades of the same color. Great for atmosphere. But, you may want to try to practice on using different color palletes and trying to get it to mesh together. Great practice.

Wow Isric, you work quick!

I like the tightened strokes! But I dont like the bridge .. hehe. But who am I? :P

I loved the scale of the first rendition, and the general emptiness it had. The bridge kinda draws away from that. But the cleaner strokes are amazing!

And you are absolutely right, your pics do have a certain random energy to them, and that's totally cool. I was just interested in seeing how you would go about making your work tighter... you did a great job. I can only hope to see more..

that second picture is really inspiring, isric. very awesome sense of scale.

i too might be applying at ACAD for next year, but i'm thinking of taking a year off (just graduating) first. either way, i'll likely meet you at some point down the road that'd be kinda neat.

I like the very first one... it gives a shares a nice mood. It seems your art is mostly based on one particular colour why's that?

Isric, I've watched your work improve ever since I started coming to this forum, your Draftsmanship has improved tremendously and your ability to pick colors has also improved, good luck at Art School.
