I got the idea for this pic while watching a TLC show about tasmanian tigers. It's not done yet, but I figured I would put it up and see what you guys think or if you have any suggestions...

looks really great, love the tongue and all...
i think you should remove those two 'highlights' from the claws and maybe add some light to the third front-claw |

Gaah! Scary monster! My kind of image.... I love the drool. I think what would really give this image extra impact would be if you brought out the highlights by adding some complementary-coloured shadows, both in the foreground and (when you do it) in the background. Also, I think it's already been mentioned, but I'm not so sure about those toe highlights. They seem a little hackneyed. (I should talk. I do that all the time, myself.) This is a great work in progress, though. Do post updates.... |

Thanks for the comments...
Socar... What do you mean by complimentry colored shadows? I assume since the beast is mostly orange/browish/red color, I should add some blues and greens into the shadows? Where would that be coming from?
Also, I agree about the highlights... Instead I will replace them with lensflares!!!! |

nice pic! scary - looks almost like my cat!
however - the perspective on the lower jaw is wrong...
The red lines show how it's jaws are currently lined up, the green lines how they should be...
hope this helps.

Augh...The dreaded lens-flare...heh, heh....
As for the shadows, the complementary colours don't need to be coming from anywhere. They just serve to make your shadows deeper + richer. So you don't need to draw a blue floodlight in the lower right corner, or anything....
Hope that helps. |

Yeah... I can see it working very subtle-like... *sigh*... I wish I had my wacom tablet and Photoshop here at work... |
