Okidoki
Here komes the next two. Adding in more details, still using variations of the same brush type. Size is up to 2000x2000 since the last iamges. Scaled down to 1000x1000, but you should save the image, and see it even smaller aswell. Now note, my home monitor is very strong in contrast to the monitor I have at work, so for alot of you guys, it will look kinda bright, flat and grey, but as I get closer to completion, I move to photoshop 6.0 and do an auto brightness/contrast. This makes all values perfect for printing, and it usually ends up more contrasty. But I like to work a bit duller
In image 2 I started with a rough background, which I`m going to expand when I get down with the focus area. If this was a more composed image containing many elements, I would then work with more background. Now there are some quirks to make out before I polish more, like his helmet is a bit off, and a few more things feel wrong. Feel free to fire away at anything that looks like wrong. Better to get input now, before it`s more complete

...nothing there to crit for me
well the hand looks a bit strange like it was melted with the axe but I think that's the ''in progress'' thing
I like especially the oil-painting look
amazing

Very strong work here. Your going to have to give me lessons!!

You need to watch the womans right arm (left) and try to keep the good pipe forms. Its hard to do (I know) when painting it is easy to lose the forms. I always save several versions to make sure things havent gotten worse during development.

Also.. the ball on the axe shape is a bit too perfect. Needs some weathering.

last you might want to study the way skin creases and shadows. I think his arm isnt shaded the best right now but its probably cuz its in progress.

Man, your style looks so familiar... I'd swear I've seen it a thousand times...

excuse my blasphemy... but from where should I know your work?

exceptionally great stuff. i really like the skin tone variations, and the ribcage of the woman

only issue i have with this is that the arm of the guy suggest that his shoulder somewhere in front and below of its actual place. i hope you see what i mean, the biceps slopes into the shadow, and connects to the breast muscle, and it looks to me as if he is a bit hunched over there, or crippled
I'd try changing the angle of the biceps so that it points more upward, just a tad bit.

Very impressive work, as always. The only thing that slightly bugs me is her head appears to be half as big as his (hair doesn't count); looks heavily exaggerated. But that may be a choice of style, to distinguish male/female physique (not intelligence; before anyone takes me wrong, since it's the head...).
Just my 2c.

BTW, are you never sick of the topic?
