This guy is the military-based character in the comic book I am working on. He's is younger as well, but I forget what his age is supposed to be. Maybe 20 or 21.
Anyway, the holes in his temples are part of the story to the book (Before anyone asks).
I especially like the "Anglo" look achieved with the nose and sideburns.
----soundtrack----
The Future Sound of Jazz vol. 7
I-F - Fucking Consumer
Dashboard Confessional - The Swiss Army Romance
Cursive - Domestica
various Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby

A very well-proportioned and balanced character. All of the gear on him reminds me of agent44's attention to detail on his recent "agent" beauties
I really like his techie glove on his left hand. He looks like he's ready to "defrag" some baddies. |

Cool
I really like the sense of weight and the clothing. Why do you use blue pencil? Is that a special type of pencil or is it just a plain blue pencil? |

I think he uses blue pencil so that he can do a rough anatomical and sketch study, then he switches to a standard pencil for the final detail. The standard pencil stands out and the blue is then depreciated.
Maybe he doesn't want them photocopied?
Blue print secrecy. Only scannable...hmmmmm

The characters name is Melvin Perkins, also known as Gecko on the streets of Neon City. He is 19 years old. Melvin, he hates being called that, was raised by his father, a very strict military man, after his mother committed suicide to "get back at his father" for never being there.
Melvin's father wishes him to follow in his footsteps and join the Neon City Cops, which he is now a member of. Melvin is torn between loyalty to his father and the team he belongs to, which happens to be Neon City's #1 most wanted.
Melvin is a member of a black market group known as the TechBoyz, hire themselves out to "aquire" things for others, as long as there is a good price for it. If they ever get caught, it would surly mean the end, however, no one knows exactly who the TechBoyz are.
Just thought I would enlighten the masses about the character. But that is just he tip of the iceburg. I will be posting information on the book on my website for all to see as soon as I can.

Check it out if you happen to have a few minutes to spare. It also has information on two other projects I am working on, The Foundation and Assassins Guild

He looks great, but not 19. He looks to much man to be as young as 19. Maybe more 23 - 24.
pure nitpicking on my part though....

Thanks for all the compliments guys.
To address JasonN's question, I use what I have always called a "lead holder" pencil with Berol Turquoise Non-Photo Blue leads (see attached images). They are thoses pencils that have like a grabber-claw on the end that grips the lead. You have to constantly be sharpening it, and you go through a lot leads very quickly. But it's really fun to draw with. Also, you can't beat the ease of already having those lines drawn when you start to pencil (just like Collosimo had stated). I completely recommed the pencil if you got a few bucks to spare. You'll have to buy a special sharpener and the leads too.
There will be another drawing tonight. The sooner I whip these ideas onto paper, the sooner I can go back and ink 'em.

heh. Rattmouth i have used these pencil holders a few years back mainly for drafting in my architech class. They are great but then i stopped using them and went back to good old normal wooden pencils. If im not mistaken these pencils already come with a sharpner when you take off the little peice at the bottom of it. Well if not im know for sure that some of these have them already. Anyways good job on the sketch nice and clean. |
