It's looking good! Do watch out for the "airbrushed photoshop" look though. I think presently, digital art is striving to rival the spontaneity of traditional art, and having visible brushstrokes and a good balance of sharp and smooth edges is essential to a more "painterly" look. I really like the intensity of your lighting. Great atmosphere.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting on it. I was trying to get as smooth a transition from one color to the next without showing strokes in it at all. I used an image I made with my quickcam last night, but I do wish it were less blurry.

Rag,
Go back to the first one! I liked that one a lot. If you want to add a second light source, it might be cool to add one coming from the right side of the picture, so that it just catches the edges of his face that are now in shadow. Get rid of those glasses, though. IMO....

So the glasses are out.. Any particular reason. I know they aren't the best. Is it a design thing or a skill thing. Anyway, I'll ditch em. How is the lighting on the second one. Better than the first? Really appreciate the help, I usually don't get many replies, not sure why, but anyway thanks and I'll post the revised one tonight.

Well the glasses aren't bad but like the others, I really dig the mood in the first one better. Just sharpen it up a tad. There was just something very real about the first one that looked really cool. The second looks a tad more cartoony so it lost the initial impact the first one holds. Maybe polishing it to the level of the first image would've helped even out the opinions. Both are done well, first one's my favorite though.

Well if that don't take the cake. Appears, I saved the latest version under the first version's name. God I need sleep! Anyway, the version you see at the top is the latest version. Egads, what a moron..now all the threads below that one will be irrelavent. |

Skip it.. I think I've done all I can and will post it in the finished gallery to stop the confusion. It will be under the same title.
Sorry for the mix up. Stupid bourbon..

Started working on this, this morning. I think it is a bit too blurred, but I was trying to soften everything up to blend into the shadows more. Please tell me what you think. I also thought about adding a second light source to keep it from being so mono.
Thanks,
Rag
[Edit} This is the latest version, I used the first version to correct it and saved it under the same name. Too make it all short, the comments below are for the first version, not this one. Man, what a long day and bourbon will do for ya.

I just wanted to say that I like your picture (the one without the glases). I don't care if it is a bit blurry. |

Thanks Nil
I was playing around with the glasses, but, like everyone else, I think they took away from the pic. I'm going to try some more of these and see what I come up with. Appreciate the compliment. |
