looking pretty good so far, try and vary up your colors though, seems like you only have 1 shade of black for the whole outfit, light bounces and colors vary and such
let us seen when its all done

i think i'll do it again.
i'm not really sure how to do his cape and all. cause i'm trying to think of some items to reference for that kinda of material. how should i go about that?
See on this image he doesn't give one light source, that's why i think i had some much trouble with it.
thanks guys =D

Be wary of overdoing the common "plastisheen" shading. In fact, be weary of anything common... because, while your talent shows, your originality does not. Neither does your friends, with those Simon Bisley bats floppin' about with their impossible wings. *I'm frank. Nice to meet you*
Try to make the highlights limited, and at an area of focus... it's far too busy when every nook and cranny of his bat outfit is teeming with starlight.

Also, the "halo" effect is supposed to be part of the background object... not the foreground. So, up at top by the cape it should be a really dark grey instead of white. Also, whoever inked this should have made that halo a little more tight. When I say "Halo" I mean that gap between the character and the background most inkers use. There really isn't a need for one here either.

Z....
looks really good but like feebs said, way too much highlite....WAY too much.
remember who you are coloring.....the dark knight.....not Colossus :P
batman is supposed to be dark and gritty.....not happy and shiney. the technique of the hightlights and color are really good. but just tone it down a bit. you may also concider changing your highlight from a pure white to a color you use for the moon.....like a pale blue or violet.
if you have the highlights on a separate layer, try to turn down the opacity a bit and see what it looks like....that way you dont have to redo all of it....cause like i said the technique is really good, just a bit overkill.

Isn't batmans costume much more rugged material wise? Point is that if you're going to try to do him like (I guess) he's supposed to be done, he wouldn't be that shiny spandexy look-at-my-jammy's-like =)
It looks sort of... xmen...
Nice coloring anyways... I'd actually like to see this one colored like an oil painting (dunno if it's called that... whatever seegmiller, mullins and may do), not that there's not a wealth of batman pics colored like that but it's just something i'd like to see =)
Nice job tho, not that I'm an expert on anything... ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Dodge and burn. Yuk. Two really horrible traps to fall into. First of all, when you dodge or burn something, all your doing is making it "whiter" or "darker" Bascially, you can get the same effect much nicer with the regular paintbrush tool, white and black and a few twiddling with the opacity settings. But, don't get me wrong here. Dodge and burn may have its usefulnesses, but right now it's not one of em. Keep in mind that light doesn't cast extreme white highlights on material, unless of course it's highly polished plsatic or some of that sort. There can be green light, black light, yellow light, whatever light, and you cant use dodge and burn. So, just try to manually pick colors and paint them in. Plus, dodge and burn makes some areas seem lumpy (referring to underwear ) |

I would like to see alot of contast between the highlights and shadows in this pic. Remember batman is a dark mysterious character, be sure and portray that.

`What sort of people live about here?' asked Alice.
`In that direction,' the Cat said, waving its right paw round, `lives a Hatter: and in that direction,' waving the other paw, `lives a March Hare. Visit either you like: they're both mad.'
`But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
`Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: `we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad...' |
