TJ,

Thanks for the interest.

Hey, it's your work that folks are interested in. You do great stuff.

Have you checked out Wayne Barlowe's Expediton or his Barlowe's Inferno? They kick ass!

Yes, as a matter of fact I love the spaceship and alien designs (the stabbing organism was my favorite) that barlowe did. BTW, did Barlowe do the designs for the aliens in Pitch Black? Similar style I thought.

I was just so burnt out from writing the damn thing I didn't want to look at it for a while.

I know how you feel. Actually I got that way from working frelance and studio work. I've been working on my own animated film since April 2000. I intend to be finished sometime this year. Again, you do great work. Keep posting stuff as you get the opportunity. I have posted a few things here and there. I'm just so busy on this film that everytime I take a break it takes longer to get back into the groove.

Regards

Whew. Your all grown up and have a job doing this. I was just hoping you wernt like 18 or 19 and just ass kicking. hehe Just kiding. Yah I am really interested in getting into conceptual art. Its just sounds like so much fun being the person who designs what everyone else gets to modle or what ever. Of course you have your own Supiriors to go to to get an aprooval on the design.

I am about 20 and have been drawing pretty stedaly for a while now. Nothing to really brag about but Im comeing along. I know I will probably have a year or so to work on getting to a level of really being able to get a job. I find myself torn alot from looking at concept art. I will sometimes see som concept art for a game or something and think "Im in no prob" Then I will see someone elses (like yours) and think "maybe I should just go back to playing football"

I really like these designs for ships and stuff. I actualy did a few on photoshop and set the background color to that brown tint and used black an white ontop of it. If you want to see it I could post it. It is verry simaler to your stuff because I borowed a few ideas and such. I like the way it looks. This does not mean I would draw every ship this way by coping your style. I was just inspiered at the time and I hardly ever draw space stuff. Im a big fantasy guy. I dont know if youve seen any of my stuff but is usualy fantasy.

Anyhoo, Im probably getting anoying here. I just love to talk to people who do what I want to do (concept art)

Sorry about the broken links, my cable company suspended my account after 2 days of posts because I had exceeded their 250 meg transfer limit - I have since registered my own domain name and moved to a real web hosting company with no transfer limit. When I get my "real" web-site finished I'll let you guys know.

Sorry 'bout dem links!

ouch, this is fooking amazing

some of your organic designs remind me somehow of Stefan Martiniere. Especially the landing ship with the cocoon thing.

TJ! Great stuff! Awesome designs, as always. I like the idea behind the project too. Have you considered the possibility of the abductees being 'remotes', with just some sort of control implanted in their brain, but the original organism staying safely inside the ship?

I agree that The Day the Earth Stood Still is a great story worth updating. It was very timely when it was first released, however, at the height of the cold war, when other alien films were hyping paranoia.

Say hi to Ashton, Keegan & Ellis for me!

Phil.

Phil,

Thanks for the comments. As far as the remote thing you mentioned, I guess I made it unclear in the way I worded it, but that's exactly what I meant. When "Klatuu" dies, it's just the abductee's body. Klatuu's intelligence would be downloaded or transmitted to the remote host (or hosts). Evenwhen we see "Klatuu" inside the mothership, the impresssion would be that even THAT is probably not the true Klatuu. He is so alien to us that no one knows what or where the "real" thing is.

Yea I know it was more timely back in the 50's Cold War era, but I still think it has enough plot elements to be a relevant. I don't see it as a Matrix or god, forbid Armageddon type movie, but more as a Gladiator,Private Ryan,Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon feel - slower paced, adult themes meshed into an action/adventure flick
Klatuu is a noble character and would need to be treated as such on film. Any thoughts as to who could pull of his calm, benevolent noblity? Tall and thin, Michael Rennie was so perfect for the part!.

A bunch of us are going down to watch Ashton and Keegan race tommorrow, so I'll tell them hi for ya.

Fengster,

The feeling is mutual bud! You inspired me to get an oatmeal sketchbook when I decided to start this series of sketches. I hadn't drawn in that style since Viscom 6 with Norm.

We should hook up like you said.. Where is Blur again?

very impressive work. I wonder how long a sketch of these type take. I've drawn something similar to those, but they suck compared to yours. big time. anyways. nice work for sure.
