OK, im a newby, so ill introduce miself a bit:
I'm a turning-15 yrs. old dude from Israel, and i like to draw...stuff.
WELL! now that you know that i am, infact, a humen, ill tell you my problam: I use a mouse. i have no tablet.
Now, mouses are cool, ya know, but when i try to draw certein things, it doesnt come out very well. and thats my problam:
.
You see, i CANNOT draw hair with a mouse. i can't seem to find a way to drw hair with the dreaded rodent. So i said to myself :"self, sijun.com has the best digi artists, ask them". and i did. i do, that is. i know that a lot (or most) of you use tablets, but you didn't have tablets all the time, right? right?
Sooo... if you know of a way to draw convincing hair with a mouce, PLEASE, do tell.
Edit: oh, press the pic to see a bigger version .

I can't help you with the hair, but that nose is very long, and very skinny. The eye on the right side of image is higher then the other. Here's a site on the net that has basic proportions for face. It's meant for comic book type stuff, but it still holds. http://www.dreamflux.com/lesson3.html |

Your on the right road. keep working on it. I think It'll turn out right.
just work on the proportions a little.
oh yeah what program are you using? if your using photoshop just make a brush with a lot of little random dots and make your strokes slow and calculated...

what I find works for me with a mouse is to not use those quick sketchy lines that you would normally do with a pencil or pen. I try to do slow steady lines so that they are sorta in the right place, then I go back over each area and erase the parts that look "wrong". Just something u might try if u want to. |
