Okay, Im posting this under Works in Progress because I always end up altering them, anyway. So here we go. Excuse me for the subject of the picture, but well ah call this a result of a bad week.
A random elf in a random dark elf castle.

It reminds me of the description of Morgoth? or Sauron torturing the elves to create a race of orcs that were as ugly as the elves were fair.
Eyes could be deeper set, imho.

everything from the neck up is nice, everything from the neck down is nicht so gut.
i would have say the arm is a little strange, where it meets the torso. his body is a little bright compared to his face and neck too.

Bradford: Contrary to popular belief, not every single picture an artist does has to be spot on perfect. Sometimes you just gotta paint what you feel.
I like it, Enayla. But then again, you already knew that.
That one spike in the big version still makes me cringe. Ouch!

i like this one alot, great change of pace. the close up made me wince, it's that detailed.
moving beyond my new-found fear of you and focusing on the drawing i can't really find anything to crit. overall on youre work, i get a vague sense that you have a hard time with anatomy, but it's hard to point out anything specific. the peice has a sort of 2d feel to it. things like where the right foot goes behind the other leg. at face value it sorta looks right, but there may be some structure issues. i would try doing a lot of quick sketches. try and get bone structure and form of the figure down. i've noticed that a lot of your stuff has a finished/painted look to it. try and do some one minute figures. i think it would really help you to get down what's important instead of focusing on the details. it's hard to learn essentials when you spend so much time on one picture. i know it feels nice to have everybody kiss your butt when you post another cool hair pic, but that doesnt help you learn.
i hope you dont take offense and i dont mean to pick on this peice, cause it really is a nice change. i've just noticed it in general on your work. i hope you can see what i mean. you do have a lot of skill and i think you could be even better.

*Chuckles softly* I won't even comment on some of what's said here.
But as for the image, yes, I sometimes have problems with anatomy. My strength lies in portraits, in hair, in eyes - those things. I draw beautiful wings, and very pretty faces.
As to the body here... aaah... can't say I had any model, or any kind of reference to draw this. I have no idea where I would find it. The picture in itself did not take me as long as you might think, I'm not altogether pleased with it, and I'm kind of disgusted with it so I won't go back to working with it
I guess my biggest problem is that I don't have any kind of education in this. I'm working on it - my first full figure picture (and I'm not kidding here) I drew a year or so ago, so cut me some slack I'm learning. I think I've drawn about three different pictures in "poses", like this one. It's a journey, but I'm getting there.
I'm a beginner, that's as simple as it is. I've never thought drawing anything below the chest and down was fun, simply because it's the faces I'm fascinated with... I'm trying, tho.
This pic wasn't so much about getting the anatomy right, though, as something else.

i didnt mean to focus on the anatomy aspect. it was just a thought. and i do like that you were expierimenting with something different in subject matter. thats how we learn.
so believe me, im not saying you must conform to my standards. i'm just saying that im glad to see you branching out.

can't wait for finished...
Wouldn't the skin need to be pushed outwards a bit where the spike is going through his torso? |

Hmmm.. different, I kind of like. it's ok.
One comment that nobody has picked up on is the brick wall. Despite your efforts it still looks kinda flat... especially on the left there. Other than that the connection between the two ankles is a bit iffy. I mean it looks like at least one of the legs is tied around the ankle and the other? well I'll let you decide..
Anyway, good effort, it is pretty well done.

Eeep, people, just let this thread slide down
I'm not too fond of the picture anymore though it was fun drawing it, so I'd rather see it slip off into oblivion somewhere...
