Hello there everyone,
Yup I'm a "newbie" (do I hate this term) too, and as most newbies in this forum I have been looking around without making noise for a couple weeks. My turn now to show my digistuff ! So here it is, some kind of Heavy Weapon Alien lost in a marsh of some sort. Designed that guy some years ago but decided to colour it at 5 am this morning, took me about an hour. Not finished of course, colors are strange and a bit too dark. Waiting for comments ! Thanks

nice start - the coloring is a bit smudged and i think you need a specific light source ( just my thoughts - use it dont use it )
* post it when its done curiouse to see what kinda alien thang it is *

I liked the mood right off. Reminded me of the dark moods of two of my own pieces:
Keep us updated on that fella of yours. Punch out a face for us, k? And don't forget some subtle backlighting.

Come on, go on with this...
With his stance kind of frozen in midair and the blue-greenish tones, I thought it could make a quite good underwater scene. Add one or two bubbles, a slight distorsion and here it comes! Just a thought, take it or leave it... |

Hope that guy doesn't suffocate with that plastic bag over his head. (har har har very pathetic joke)
I like what you have already. One crit I'll mention: the arm on the right side of the picture, well I know it's an alien, but judging from the muscles on the other arm, the bicept is misplaced for the angle of the forarm; it would be angled towards the body more.
Post more as it comes along. |

Hey feebsaint, cool pics... the second reminds me of Segur (my favorite french artist). The slim, triangular-shaped head creature looks like a dark-gobelin from 'legendes des contres oublies'. I sur love it |

The title of this message still eludes me. New face ? Where's the face ? Hmmm ... *just kidding*
There's something about the perspective and scale which bothers me - his shoulder looks enlarged, and so does his wrist. Just something you might want to take note of.

Thanks for the comments everyone. Here's the original drawing I did 2 years ago. The shoulder is ententionally made bigger, like a big armored one. I'll continue to work on it as soon as I have time !

Here's a new version. I changed the colors a little and added a backlight (maybe it's too intense). His head is so so. Anyway, enjoy !

The head is definitely better looking now than plain blue!
The backlight is not really too intense but i think you spreaded it a bit too much all over the place. Make it more subtle.

lildragon, to answer your question, this was colored on Photoshop using my old Wacom tablet (like most people in here I guess) |
