A late afternoon raid by the Impish Airforce Command. The textures are kinda cheesy, but wasn't sure how to make them appear to wrap around the balloon. Any help in that? Do you think I could use the disort/pinch command to get it to balloon out? Any other comments would be helpful please.

If you want the balloon to appear round you should try to shade it. like up a brighter spot on it where the light his it directly and put a darker area where no light will hit the balloon.

effects and filters in photoshop will not give you this effect.

if you want to place a texture on an area in the picture try to use the layermode "multiply" on the layer with the texture.

I'll try that. Can you tell me how to go about creating a convincing lightsource? I mean the lighting is coming from behind, but I don't want just sillohettes (spelling?). Help always appreciated.

I think I'm getting a tad better at this stuff. No photo ref at all, just haven't got totally away from filters yet. My computer only has 32m Ram so I use whatever is the fastest. Thanks again for the fast response.

Also, I was thinking of using straight flat colors and no textures at all.
[Edit] I'm going to recreate this in 3D to get my light source right, I think that would help.
