Hey guys and gals, been a while since I've posted anything new. I've been working nonstop on a new demo reel aimed at the gaming industry so that I may get a job working for a game developer soon. This is a character I've been working on this week along with about 6 others. It was done in 3D Studio Max r3.1 and the model itself is one single mesh that is 904 Polygons. I'm only showing from the neck up here, as the textures for the rest of this model are not completed yet but will be shortly. I've already used Character Studio / Physique to animate the character and it flys smoothly with no kinks in the deformation of the mesh, thanks to some skillful vertex weighting. The maps are all hand painted from scratch in Photoshop v5.5 using my trusty WACOM and when applied maintain a seemless appearance. If anybody wants to see the whole model I can post it if requested. I'm looking for some feedback and comments. So Joachim, if you are watching stop and say hi...haven't heard from ya in a while. Thanks much and Laterz.
NOTE: Just updated the pics, the torso texture is added now.

Ooh, that's neat. All in all it has a very solid look - detailed enough to look realistic, but not over-textured like so many skins out ther. I guess I'll give some crits, though, while I'm here.
First off, the hairline doesn't look quite right. It's way too geometrical. The fact that it comes to a point on his forehead is ok, but the straight edges leading down to that point just don't look natural. Also, the edge where his hair meets his skin could use a bit more work. It's too sharp - especially for someone whose temples are balding so badly. You could also stand to add some highlights on individual strands of hair.
Hmm. Spooge's soulblighter dude would illustrate these points really well: http://fear.incarnate.net/~vlad/sijun/spotlight18c_big.jpg
One other thing is that the texture looks WAY too symmetrical - especially the V shape in his forehead. You might not notice in a game, but that's exactly the kind of thing that's going to stick out at whoever you're interviewing with. Go in and add some slight irregularities and it'll look a lot better.
Oh, and yes, I'm sure we'd all like to see the body as well. ![](http://www.sijun.com/dhabih/ubb/wink.gif) |

Alrighty, here's my latest in low poly skinning. Everything in it was done by hand with a mouse *crackles wrist* except I did have a little photo-help on the face, mainly with the eyes because well, I suck at eyes. Anyhoo...OH, and I fixed the odd looking nipples already. |

the chin could be a little more rounded, if it doesnt add too many polys... i also agree with the above comments

Thanks Waylon and Shardin! I appreciate the insight from you guys. It's kind of funny...the things you guys mentioned about, I was actually working on when I saw somebody posted a response to this. I'm working on diminishing the symmetry in the face a lil bit and that hairline is looking more natural now, not as uniform as shown. I'll post updates on Monday or Tuesday as by then the maps for the torso and arms should be completed. Thanks again.
As for the posting of a model skinned by The Postman...just seems odd, since you didn't give me any feedback on my submission and chose to just post a piece by you in here with no comments relating to this thread. I thought that's what posting your own thread was all about...heh. I won't try to understand.
Thanks again for the feedback, it is appreciated. Laterz.
