Hi.
Been working on this image on and off over the last couple of days, I wanted to do a silouette(sp?) image and I could use some suggestions on the background. I want more depth to the image, maybe some more mountains or something, Im not sure.
BTW please tell me if it looks too dark, it looks good on my monitor
lets see if this works..
thumbs up or down?

don't get me wrong, I think you have a really good painting going there, but it seems like the guy and the horse are kinda grayed out. The horns seem to look good to me, I think you should add more dark shadows like that to the rest of it. It also seems like your going for the feeling of wind to me. If I'm right, maybe you could add some flying sand thing like you have in the background into the foreground. I think this could look interesting. I give it a thumbs up so far man :-) |

Great concept. I do agree wtiht the above comment, the figures do look a bit greyish, but that's one of the only probs I see here. I don't think the pic's too dark, either. The landscape looks really good. Changes/additions- wise, I think you could maybe extend the background a bit with teeny hills and mountains. That would make the scene look more desolate and, uh, lonely.

I love it man, its got some great atmosphere in it. The only thing I'd do is darken the shadows on the ground around the horse...he seems to blend right into the ground too much right now. Thumbs up. Keep 'em coming.

looks GREAT the only thing i dont like is how you made the back of the horse. look at how the body is placed ( it looks straight) and yet the back legs are further away??? can anyone else see this? |

Thanks for the feedback guys, much appreciated. I updated the image, hopefully the greyish look to the horse/rider is gone. Also added some stuff in the background, it still need work. Same with the sky, Im having a hard time doing good looking clouds but Ill keep trying!

Just a small compositional problem..
maybe you should have the tree pointing towards the guy on the horse... if it points away it draws the viewer's eye away and adds a little confusion as to what is the focal point... just my 2cents |

When I saw this I instantly thought about one of Frazetta's work (http://www.arthistory.cc/pics/frankfrazetta/frazetta019.jpg) altho I'm sure it's only a coincidence.
Anyway I think it's nice but perhaps a bigger blade would be more impressive
And are those Wyverns flying over there ? EEeep

Whoa , this is really nice, i like that you've got one direct light source behind the figures and you can see the light sharpen on the horses edges .. how about the man ? =) Nice work. |

great pic ! nice colors and drawing !
perhaps some details are needed here and there, especially the legs of the horse look a little wrong to me.
cheers
