Well, this is like my first time at recreating in photoshop 
(scanned and added colours and shades with the mouse)
I would be happy with some tips or critiques 
This was a quickie to try out stuff on, as you can see my shading isint the greatest
the anatomy isint right either.

Good effort. The pictures looks really rough overall and the method of shading is not too consistent. It looks like either airbrush or burn dodge but its too rough. Also could use some more highlights.

I used the dodge/burn tools with different highlights/midtones..
I got a quite huge problem learning how to do it 
But what do you mean? That i should use bigger brushed when i am shading the little bastard?
