i already posted one image in the 'finished work' forum and then went back and made changes to it, so instead of breaking the rules again, (and attracting the paddle) here's a maybe-finished painting i call 'pipe soldier'
photoshop, probably about 6 hours.. any crits are welcome.

nice pose and I like the lighting on the face. I too have a sewer scene, but still missing the dude. I render in 3D.
You inspired me.
cool image

thanks for the comments.
jenn - maybe a lovely sewer mermaid. wyatt - glad to be of service. i look forward to seeing it.
this is still very much a work in progress. i'm not sure about this style of painting, because it's new to me. i'm going for a bit of an oily look, but i'm not sure if i'm pulling it off.
a friend told me it looked like 'a blurry photograph'.. what think you? how does the water look? think his hands are believable? what about the jacket and its colors? (thats the part i'm the most iffy on) any proportion problems that jump out? is this picture lacking that 'something' that would give it OOMPH?

His right hand and his right leg seem odd to me, and he is holding the lintern like a pencil.
Also it looks like an explorer more than a soldier. He doesn't wear armor or a suit.
The light is good and the I really like the water. |

Now are those gas masks I'm seeing in the background or what!
Nice pic, he does look more like a janitor than a soldier to me, though :].
