I have just started an art class, 4 hours a week, to learn the principles of painting and drawing, and avoid getting stucked with my WACOM+Painter.

Well, the other day I was drawing the typical statue head with charcoal, and when I drew a bad line, I found myself thinking: "No, no, let's undo this stroke", and I was *REALLY* thinking of choosing "Edit>Undo brush stroke", or simply "Ctrl+Z", in front of my canvas with my fingers covered with coal.

Has anyone of you suffered this same *digital art paranoia*?

AHHH!! You bet it happened to me!
Sometimes when I see a new zit of my face, while looking in the mirror in the morning, I see my hand twiching and trying to reach for an invisible mouse.. some obscure region of my brain trying to click on the Clone stamp tool and zap the zit away! Gee.. I wish!

I have used photoshop so much, that I often find myself thinking in terms of its tools.

I am beyond hope I guess.

I have the same problems sometimes.
Worst thing is when you gat a new videogame.
When I got Age of Ampires II I couldn't sleep 'cause this little guys were dancing around in my mind.
I played the game in my mind at least 3 ours before I could sleep - it's SICK...

uuhm...has anyone ever played GTAIII, (i know this is not a gameforum) if you sit in a car in that game you can turn on the radio. and on that radio was a commercial. and in that commercial there was a boy. and he played a lot with his computer. And on a bad day he felt and landed on a car. When he stood up he said to his mother:" hey, mummy, were is the reset button???"

I think if you get signals like this you have to shut down the computer for a while.

I could also work in the wrong way and if that happens you can get maniacs who kill people on schools you know...

I think you have to relax a little bit if you wanna puch cntr-z if somethinfg doesn't work out like you want.

Well, it could be nice to puch buttons and then you can undo something. like a mathematic lesson. you just have to puch cntl+alt+del and you shut down the lesson if you want hahaha,

There was an e-mail address I needed to take home from the office once. I selected it and hit ctrl-C. I then picked up my sketchbook and stared at a blank page for a couple seconds before realizing that there was no way to copy/paste from the screen to a sheet of paper.

I would need a pencil.

But i meen... if you ask yourself wether you could shoot a couple with a sniper because of a game, I think you have to ask yourself if you dont play countersrike too much!!

I think if dont stop playing the game you will become a serious maniac who wanna shoot people with a sniper.

Well, maybe I haven't explained well the "Counter-Strike" affaire (my English isn't too good). That situation was laughable because the situation in Spain (and I think in Europe in general) is quite different to USA. Here it is impossible to obtain a small competition gun (those that only shoot a small lead piece) without passing several tests and getting hundreds of licenses. Imagine a sniper gun or even a .38! The fact is he was positioning *real* people in the game environment! I don't know how to explain it, but it wasn't something tragic or paranoic, or nothing else...it was just funny. And well, this guy wouldn't kill a fly.

He he, well I think everybody has ever had some paranoia with games.
I could see the Tetris pieces falling for half and hour before I got asleep, ten years ago. And a friend of mine, a Counter-Strike fanatic, once asked me when we were having a beer sitting at a cafe table at the street:

"Do you think I could hit with the sniper rifle to that couple over there?"

violence in games doesn't lead to people going out with a gun and killing people, there has to be something mentally wrong with them in the first place, i've been playing computer games since 82, and i've never had the erge to go out on a mass rampage killing people..

Many of these situations are very familiar
Including ballistics notebook and the counterstrike experience.
At the one company I worked for we would usually play counterstrike on the LAN. And these were all fanatics..it was always really intense. Afterwards when I was walking to the trainstation I would find myself scanning corners and rooftops and being really jumpy and stuff.
My coworkers would actually all be walking around pretending to throw smoke grenades around corners and shit like that.
I wonder why that place went bankrupt

When I play computergames like Quake or any other cruel ones the it's just because I want to relax for some time.
It's my way to abreact the stress form school and stuff.
It's time to work up for me.
And so it's the oposite of becomming a ( exaggerated )terorist because you work up the stress in the game and not in the real life.

Some gaming rag a while back ran an article about "Real Life Camping spots" and listed off what places in our workplaces would be best for such things. Can't remember which.


My favorite article though has to be "Drinking and Driving Games" in some short lived, Maxim-esque gaming rag.

For some time I've been coping with a Red Alert 2 addiction. I've looked to my comrades for support, but all they do is whine about the capitalist DOGS. I've played RA2 for so long, that I'd wage 10 skirmishes in my head before going to sleep, then I dream of Tanya. I'd tell her how I'd send my spy into her war factory, then nuke her barracks. Then she'd tell me to get a life. That was a year ago, I'm better now. I've been sober for one year. If I had the power of CTRL-Z, I'd CTRL-Z Hitler. Or was that already done.

I think most people who paint and draw alot digitally have encountered this when going back to the good'n'ol pencils. Happens to me every time I paint oils or draw on paper... And it makes me smile everytime too

One thing I've noticed in relation to the tetris thing (experienced that too) is that when I'm working (Night filler at Woolworths) and loading boxes onto drop off trolleys is that I hum one of the tetris themes while stacking. Real life tetris!!

Thing is, I didn't realise it until someone said "Hey, that's the tetris theme!" at which point I said "Huh? I was humming that?" @:-)

So this is beneficial in a way. I stack my trolleys well.

the worst one i had recently was when i had to take a test and the questions where on a computer but i had to write the answers on a peace of paper. so every time i picked up the pencil i was expecting the curser on the monitor to move.. damn wacom

Whoa. I though I was the only one. I've reached for Control-Z many times in real life. It's weird, but we also do this with TV. Someone makes a comment that sounds like a particular actor's reading of a line, and we respond like the movie or tv show.

i've never thought about an undo function in real life, but i've thought about how much i'd want an search function, so i could find stuff faster... it's really annyoing when i can't find stuff i want really bad at the moment

Back in the early days when I was a web designer and would head home after a long day, I'd hit the upper Netscape logo to reload pages in my dreams! I've also found myself using the keyboard command shortcut for Undo in real-life once or twice, and thinking, (smiling rather ridiculously at myself) 'what a goof, too much time in front of the computer'. Now that I do more video production work, I find myself using the same commands to undo my dreams of video production and actually edit scenes in my dreams sometimes. I think this all gives new meaning to 'taking our work home with us'.

That bullshit you guys are talking about is fucking Kindergarten shitniz and can only happen to mental lo'-flyers.

If you're really crazy you'll start reflecting things from teh "real world" (note the quotations) into the nerdish shitload you're doing on yer frickin' P-C. There was one time when I played Medieval:Total War, giving orders to my units while the game was paused, then I got maself a coke and a bag potatoe chips, hit the "unpause" key and watched the entire battle like it was some kinda soccer game, screaming "GO, PEASANTS, GO!" or "HIT 'EM BAD, ARCHERS! GIVE 'EM HELL!" (well, not too loud tho). I even stood up to hooray the last wimpy left-overs of my once great army which somehow managed to survive every single well placed wave of attackers.

Crazy shit like that makes you overthink your situation. You go deep inside yourself and crawl back with the insight that...

... a glorious victory like that deserves another coke and an extra bag of potatoe chips!!1
