1. I must have toyed around with it too much some time or another, but whenever I stroke a selection, it comes out with rounded corners..does anyone remember which setting it is to straighten it?
2. Is there a way to distort text (by Free Transform or otherwise) without creating the low-quality blur that comes afterwards? I only need to resize it in a vertical/horizontal sense, if that helps.

1) check that the options for your selection marquee/lasso have "feather" set to 0.
2) In Photoshop 6 and above (might even be 5, can't remember) text is all vector, so it shouldn't get blurry after using the transform tool. Make sure you don't rasterise the text before using the transform tool. |

yeah buddy..........your feather option has some digits set in it set it to zero go to your layers properties and select "feather"> set to zero  |
