I wasn't quite sure where else I could post these, but I've been into taking pictures for painting references lately. The recent camera craze was involving hair, because I don't have too many good hair refs. I plan on uploading several more with a few different styles. Figured I would share them with others that are interested in seeing the way hair moves, falls, twists and reflects light. I'm also open for requests, within reason of course. Seemed like a neat project.

These don't get any bigger, sorry. I made a bunch of tiny eye pictures a while back for a different purpose. Just uploading them now because they've proven useful for some people.

I bet some folks around here could use some good hand references.

If I get some free time, I'll try to take a roll, but I use a film camera, so it could be a while until I get around to having them developed.
If someone has a digital camera and a pair of hands, they might consider snapping some nice hand shots.

Yeah... hands were next on my list. My boyfriend has awesome hands (I think so anyway). I've been told my hands are nice, but I can't stand them so they probably won't make the cut. There is a girl at work with lovely, slender hands and long fingers. I need to pressure into giving me 15 minutes of her time.

Hmmm... that statement could be terribly misconstrued.

OK, here's the first effort. The quality isn't as good as it should be, thanks to a lack of controlled lighting and a POS digital camera. Its not so bad though, still useful. I left a couple in color since they lost too much info in the BW conversion. Requests are welcome, I'll try to setup some better lighting for next time. Without further ado:

Elam- that's just one of my bedrooms, hard for me to bother cleaning rooms no one sees(except the 5000+ visitors/day of this forum

I need to setup some better controlled lighting. The problem using household lights is that A)they're dark and B)its hard to control spill. High contrast is important for musculature, so maybe if I can setup something during the day it'll work out better.

Gee, you even get some photographs where the guys actually bother making a nice pose, lighting, angle, etc (the more erotic classy stuff).

Hehe... I don't think using porn for reference is anything new. *grin*

The problem with using it is that its very obvious and often cheesy looking. And of course there is also the issue that some people can't just go fishing around for porn whenever they please.

, well, you do get a limited number of poses possible. And although sometimes there is some movement and life, it *does* become a bit repetitive after a while.
Then again, not everybody can afford models :P

But I didnt even thank you for your initiative. Close ups are very hard to come by (well, at least for the less erogenous parts of the anatomy), so it's a pretty cool idea to post those here

Did you take those for that purpose ?
I'd say that's a pretty cool idea !

Turning into a nice thread(no thanks to me

). I thought of something that might be useful though. I'll do this during the day ,outside, when my cam can take decent 1280x960 shots. I'll take photos of different muscle groups in sets, to illustrate the motion of the particular muscles in various movements. For instance, photo the arm from the front/back, with the arm up/down, with the wrist rotated neutral/out/in. That's really the type of anatomy that I feel is sort of approximated a lot in most people's images. Perhaps Jez would like to do the female version of this?
