how do I move a single vertex point?! I just wanna be able to reshape the object or whatever.....it shows all the vertexies....but I can't move them..it just moves the whole image.
=| and how do I turn off the function that: When you push delete on some selected stuff on a layer, it deletes stuff off of layers below it. =| I want it like photoshop...where you can only effect the layer you're on.
I don't like illustrator. =\ |

illustrator isn't the easiest vector art app to get into, freehand is far easier in the way it works..
as far as moving ur single point u need to select the non-filled arrow tool..
ur 2nd problem: it maybe that the object is grouped, so when u think you've only selected the one item ur infact selecting the group and deleting it all..
[]mail me the image and i'll take a look at what ur talking about

just use the direct selection tool ( the white arrow ) and select the vertex and move it. |

The direct selection tool didn't do it either.
Ok, this is what I want done:
I want to take the letter H and bend it...
What I was doing:
I would take the text tool and type an H. Then I'd take the resize tool and make it larger. Then I would right click on it, and hit makes outline because then it shows me the vertexes. But when I try moving those vertexies seperately, it doesn't do it even with the direct selection tool.
So, what am I doing wrong here? =) |

If you want to reshape text you've got to convert from a text object to vector objects. I haven't got illustrator here right now, but I think pressing Ctrl+Shift+O will do it. Then you can start editing and pulling points.
And if you just want to select objects in the layer you are in, you have to lock all the others. There is a quick command for that
too, it might be alt+click the lock button of a layer, but I'm not sure on that one either...
Hope this was of any help! |

ok here u go
type ur H and then using Ctrl+shitf+O create ur outline
then using the Pen Tool (P) create a point somewhere along the border of ur H, this will then allow you by holding Ctrl to select and pull any of the handles (points)
