Post one of your works, even when it's done with a mouse.

Drawing with a pencil on paper and drawing with a digital tablet are very different experiences, but they are both better than drawing with a mouse.

I'd say drawing with a mouse is more of an engineering experience than a drawing experience. There are certainly wonderful images created with a mouse, but if drawing experience is what you are after and you don't have a tablet, I'd say use a pencil and paper...

Well, the proportions are not right.

There are some well known tricks to get them right.

Use this for the faces:

You do not need a tablet to do good work. I used a mouse for several years and my work was not different in any major way. In fact, it sort of evolved my technique more quickly because I had to design my shapes more severely.

If you do use a mouse, keep your opposite hand over the keypad and you can dial the opacity very easily and quickly. If you want to get really anal, hit two keys in short succession and you can get opacities in-between the 10's.

The two main things that you get from using a good tablet are speed and pressure sensitivity..

I personally believe that getting a wacom helped me alot in coloring and quickly getting my ideas down.. before that I had to draw on paper and then start coloring.. and by the time I was in the middle of coloring my broken mouse had frustrated me so much that I used to give up.

I recommend a wacom tablet... but if you don't know the basics of art then it would not really do you any good..
