Well, I can't say that I have found any kind of magical tutorial that will enable you to all the sudden draw a perfect hand. Nor can I lay claim to such a skill, But I would suggest checking out Bridgman's books, if you have'nt already done so.
He actually has one out that deals with nothing but hands, it's called the "book of a hundred hands", but I would instead suggest "constructive anatomy" or "Bridgman's life drawing" due to their increased depth in all aspects of figure drawing. Including Rhythm and balance and other cool stuff like that.
These books are all available from Dover publishing. They are cheap ($6.95) and well worth looking into. I hope this helps a little.
Oh, there is also a "Bridgman's complete guide to drawing from life" that is about $20 and contains everything from all his books. |

It takes alot of practice. I don't think hands are particularly hard, but they do force you to use extreme foreshortening. Learn the bones of the hand. Do alot of gesture drawings. |

i recommend basic literacy. it might not help you draw hands, but it could solve some other problems. |

Practice is the only way to improve.
A couple of weeks I used to draw 30-40 cartoon hands after reference a day.
Sorry for the big download! |

alright.. this is how it went down for me.
I could draw hands, barely, if I worked for about three hours on each damned finger.
then, one night, I sat down with a few books.. my favorite, Drawing Cutting Edge Comics by Christopher Hart, and a few other comic book pencilling books...
then I just drew hands, from every angle I could think of, using the books as a guide, all night long.
morning came, eventually, and now I can draw hands no problem..
I really think this is probably the only way. You analyze the hands from a few angles (like, I learned how to use a triangle to guide the initial shape..) and then you just DO IT. ALOT.
taa daa. hands. |
