Hi. I am trying to improve my skills when it comes to making digital art. I own both photoshop and painter and i would like to know how other people have these programs set up. for example, what settings do others use, which brushes do you use and so on. I find painter to be really powerful and i like how it behaves with my tablet, but its so confusing and its GUI is horrible. And for me, photoshop (6) doesnt seem to move well...producing not so smooth lines. Any info is appreciated. THnx. ![](images/smiles/icon_smile.gif) |

Hi,
Take a look at this thread in the Painter Can forum at In Depth Discussions and after you read through it, follow the links in my message.
http://www.critical-depth.com/cgi-bin/idd/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=1471
One takes you to another thread, "Workspace Challenge", where you can see screenshots that show how some of us set up our palettes (workspace) and the other takes you to a couple of pages on my site, "Painter 7 Interface - Palettes", where you can learn more about the interface, palettes, how they work, and find some keystroke commands to toggle them open and closed.
There are loads of threads on brush settings, using Painter's drawing an painting tools, and various techniques in the Painter Can forum. If you post a new topic to introduce yourself and ask whatever you want to know, other members will jump in to answer your questions.
Most of us can help you either find appropriate existing brushes in the default Painter 7 brush library, on Painter 7 CD2, or direct you to custom brushes we've created and make available to download.
There's a wealth of information available there, so feel free to stop in any time. Then you can bring back your knowledge and share it here at Sijun. ![](images/smiles/icon_wink.gif) |
