well a few monthes ago i found a book called.....Dream Hunters by Neil Gaiman and illust. by ...Yoshitaka Amano. I likes the demons and his style of work and instead of drawing things without detail and alot of detecation i was puttin all i have into them. But i was into the demons and creature.....so i tend to draw characters that you would see in hellraiser and dream hunters and i cant seem to stop. I can draw something totally different once and awhile but i always wind up back to where i started. So i want to know how i can 'move on' so to speak and create things outside the dark horror which i am currently still in?

The most important thing is don't force yourself to do something you don't enjoy. Don't get your expectations up too high, work slowly into new things, otherwise you will just meet frustration.
Try meeting a compromise. Do your dark art, but start working in some different elements, gradually trying new things. |

Try something COMPLETELY OPPOSITE just for the hell of it !! Do a children's painting all cute and everything ! Make it bright colourful, cheerful, full of life etc
Another suggestion I read is just scribble a lot of stuff without planning anything and see what comes.
From my experience in life I see doing things you dont usually do is always bound to bring new insightful experiences, whether they were good or bad experiences, in the end it's always good. |
