Was wondering if anyone was going or has been to this:
Disney Animation Event
Also was wondering if the cost was worth the experience.

I have no idea, but it certainly looks interesting...
Tho -- having just forked out $7000 canadian for school, I dont think i'd be attending. And of course, because its disney, they're probably charging an exorbant amount, whether its a worthwhile convention or not.
ha. Oh well. |

heh, Rotto I definitely agree. Multiply what you payed times 4 and that's about what I payed art school. And I'm sure what I payed is nowhere near what other people pay for school.
It'd still be really neat to attend this conference though. |

I also paid a formidable amount of money for school (and still regret..), but I would attend this seminar thingy. After all, it *is* Disney.
Aaah ! I'm turning to the dark side ! AAAH ! |

You two said "art school". Either one of you study animation? Possibly at CalArts? Just wondering what that place is like.

CalArts is evil. I visited since I was planning on attending, but after seeing the $20k tuition and terrible artwork, I changed my mind. They have honest to goodness pornography posted on the walls and the most untalented hacks wandering the halls. Don't get me wrong, many people there are amazingly talented, but every since person I met was outlandishly nuts.
also, it is hotter than hell

Hey RC,
Sorry about messing up your name
I studied Animation at the Art Institute. I believe they have several facilities through out the Nation. I think it's an ok school, though quite expensive, IMO.

RottoNcherRieS (Cut&Paste is my favorite function in windows..) : I studied trad animation at Icari in Montreal... and let me tell you if I had a time machine...................
I heard very passionate feedback about CalArts.. Either good or bad. I saw the work of some people getting out of here and it was KICKASS ! My guess is that they don't necessarly screen everyone in this faculty and the quality of produced art varies greatly. </2c> |
