artists are very paranoid about being scammed or having their art stolen, soooooo we need more info
maybe it would be a better idea to WRITE A BOOK instead of doing a comic...because making comics is a big hassle, especially when your only link to your artist is through email. or aim or whatever

im not saying it wont work....but expect problems, and a high price for artists who are as good with lines as feng...and are as good at painting as craig....expect a high price.

Show us someone better, toiletphish. Show me someone more versatile. Unless you�re buddies with Bouguereau and Waterhouse, I doubt you can. No, there is not ALWAYS someone better.

It seems obvious to me toiletphish, that you're a child. That isn't meant to offend you at all, but the views you have on the art world as whole seem to point in that direction.

By using Feng and Craig as a standard, he is creating an incredibly high one. He is asking for the absolute TOP of the field. And he is doing this by SPAMMING the fuck out of the forum with a misspelled, terribly written advertisement.

I see no company ties, no company domain even. It seems like a big joke to me. Apparently, I'm not the only one.

"PAYING" could mean $3 for 8 years work.

"who is better" is a matter of personal taste and personal oppinion as well. craig and feng have their own styles, and perhaps they are the "best" in those styles of art. but does that make them the greatest all round artists in the world? there must be someone who is better at landscape painting than craig, or better at vehicle concept design than feng. i don't think they are the best in the world, sorry.

anyways, to make a long story short, i think that there are people on this forum that can paint somewhat like craig and can make linework that is up to snuff with fengs. therefore there is nothing wrong with using craigs art and fengs art as a template of what skill level this guy wants in his comic.

Hmmm. If I may be so presumptuous, I'd like to offer a response to Shinoi X, with a little less vitriol. What he is doing is not spam, as it does relate to what this forum is dedicated to. Hey, he isn't selling penis enlargers or plans to make $50k a week. But, I agree, he is out-of-touch with the industry. I understand why his posts generate so much, uhm, irritation, but I'd prefer to respond to his request.

I am an illustrator, and a comic book artist (penciller/inker/colorist) with 20+ years experience in comics, and about 18 as an illustrator. Seriously, you are asking WAY TOO MUCH from an artist or artists for a comic. Comics require many pages to be turned out a month. I cannot imagine, that even if you hired Craig Mullens, and had that sort of funding, that it would be possible to turn out 22-24 pages a month of that level of painting. Maybe I am wrong. I know how long it takes to do comic style coloring, and how long it takes the guys who are faster (or slower) than myself, and I cannot imagine meeting the deadline, AND delivering that degree of refinement.

Also, comics are at a very low point in sales right now, to the point, they may not recover. Many name titles that sold in the hundreds of thousands a decade ago (or millions in the 60s) are now selling 30,000 or less. This is a scary time to be jumping into the biz, and more so with a comic that will demand astronomical sales to support the level or work you are demanding.

Lastly, I cannot recall the number of times I have seen adds over the past 30 years from prospective comicbook, and comic strip creators promoting the "hottest idea ever," only to never see even one make it to print. Hey, there's always a first time, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Greetings Digital Painters!

I am in need of a very talented digital painter for a paying COMIC BOOK project.

The goal is to produce a comic unlike anything else out there. We have a very intense and imaginitive story framework and we are look for a digital painter to complete out team. We will be working with a Writer (myself), Penciler( Sigmund Torre a published professional) and a Letterer/Designer. This is style and digital painting we are looking for.

For backgrounds they will all be penciled but painted realisticly like this...
