Looks pretty similar to the 'wet edges' of the pre 7 photoshops. Opacity... and that defined edge to each mark is a dead giveaway. I'm not sure what you would do in painter. |

uh, Arc][Pello. I'm no expert but that looks like it was done using the paintbrush tool in photoshop. And not even the new brush engines in photoshop 7, you could probably do that even in photoshop 5 or whatever version they started using pressure sensitivity. It's more the technique over anything else, a transparent loose application of paint. Hope that helps |

Hi,
You can get something close by painting the background (on the Canvas) using the Tinting category's Soft Grainy Round.
To get a similar splatter effect, in the Layers section menu, choose Lift Canvas to Water Color Layer. In the Layers section, check the Pick Up Underlying Colors box. Then use the Water Color category's Eraser Salt with the following setting adjustments:

Once you have these adjustments made, in the Brushes palette's Variant menu, choose Save Variant and give it a new name not already used by Painter. Now you can experiment and continue to make adjustments. If you want to return the brush variant to the settings used when you saved it, in the Brushes palette's Variant menu, choose Restore Default Variant.
Hope this helps get you started, at least.
Have fun! |

I use Fine Point as a preliminary to my oils work in painter 7. Look under Pen tools/Fine Point.
Make your mask middletone solids, and glaze with the Fine Point over it. Usually 19-29%
