I'm sure I'm not the only one that's noticed this:

Attractive female forum members here gets lots of attention, and it's expected. Afterall, it's mostly guys here.

Now, what if the situation was reversed: a forum with mostly female members, and a few cute guys are also members. I seriously doubt those few cute guys will get open adoration and "OMIGOD you are Sooooo cute" type posts.

Now, why is that? Does our society encourage open adoration from male to female, but not the other way around? There are definitely some really good looking/talented guys here with great personality, but I've never once seen a female forum member post anything remotely resembling the type of adoration the guys express about the female members.

Now, let's hear your two cents on this.

interesting observations...haven't males traditionally always been the agressors (for lack of a better word)in male/female courtship rituals?

cripes, look at those old warner brothers cartoons with that fox banging his head on the table and howling...and even mickie and minnie mouse!

Sorry Lunatique but I disagree with you.

If this place was by chance filled with girls and there were a few sexy guys I can guarantee that those guys would receive attention. Girls can be just as disgusting, desperate, and perverted as the guys. I�ve seen it happen.

If your scenario was the case and lets just say this so called guy posts a picture of himself half naked at the beach I can promise you� it may take time but as soon as ONE girl posts a �he�s hot� a flood of women will join in the flock.

But why does it have to be when the female ratio is much higher for that to happen? Does being in a large group of women make them braver? Let's see if a girl here has the guts to do that to one of the guys here. . ..

males are sexually driven, its that way in all speices/creatures. They generally are the figherers, and the seekers. thus the high levels of resistance and illogical thinking in sensitive matters.

women are emotionally driven, its also that way in all speices/creatures. They are generally the fough over and the seeked. Thus the high emmotional teetering and passiveness.

well, look how many drawings there are around here of cute girls! (not to mention magical proportions) Most (comic) artists (which is a big influence here) don't set out to draw the plain or the worse then plain... they work with exciting extremes, things that are very stimulating... it may not be fair that a board member gets all sorts of attention just for their biology, but then is it fair that certain subjects in art get all the attention? I don't know, but I can tell you having cute girls around cheers people up.

I don't think it's fair to say that the attractive ladies of the forums get attention simply because they are attractive and female. Give some credit for artistic achievement, there. There are plenty of attractive women who post here and don't get any replies at all (see Periadam's thread, ages ago). I think it's more a matter of who's friendly & outgoing--one gets what one gives, after all. I, for instance, am neither friendly nor outgoing. Therefore, I get less crits than those people who are generous with their advice. It's a simple fact of life...One gets out what one puts in. Got to work hard to reap the rewards.

And please� the fact that I don't drool all over the pretty guys here has nothing to do with the fact that I don't "dare" to. Ok, here's another interesting point though: When a male openly expresses interest in attractive females, it's considered very normal behavior, but when a female openly expresses strong interest in attractive males, people(meaning the average, not very intellegent or enlightened average Joe/plain Jane)still raises an eyebrow. They'd say things like, "Oh, she's boy-crazy."

Our society still has double standards, and it's very unfair to women. If a man has had a lot of sexual encounters, he is considered "experienced," while a woman would be considered a "slut." Mentality like that maybe in a very subtle way, influences the reasons why female members are less likely to openly express adoration for male members here?

Well, I usually get multiple "oh-my-god-you're-hot" kinda IM's from girls almost daily. I don't know about message boards, because I'm not really in the habit of posting my pictures on the few that I frequent. But yes, GIRLS DO IT TOO, and I think the lopsidedness here is almost entirely due to the ratio of males to females.
