First, let it be known I am king of procrastination...I regret it, but alas..

Anyway, for my Art Honors Society project I have to create a wearable mask/helmet of some sort that I can physically wear or put over my face..

It has to be original, meaning I just can't buy a mask off a shelf, I have to create one.

But I have no idea what I can do, and I only have about 4-5 days until it has to be turned in.

What would you guys suggest? What type of mask would I be able to create that would look unique enough, but also with materials that I could be finished by the end of the week?

Maybe feathers, beads, or some painted patterns?

Research some ideas from the native american masks or similiar for reference, and work from there. it will probably make the job easier than having to come up with a totally innovative design.

paper mache' for sure, but if you want to be super jazzy, make an alginate negative of your face, then a plaster positive from the negative, build on the positive then negative cast that with aliginate then latex positive from the last negative. Next you want to...uh...

Alginate is super cool. See your favorite dentist for some if you have money to waste.

I'd recommend plaster .. uh.. bands ? Forgive my limited english vocabulary, but it's the kind of plaster stripes they put on a broken limb for example. Dries up extremely fast (use warm water) and won't shatter easely (thanks to the fabric support).
Be carefull if using Acryls ; plaster drinks up the water from the paint if you don't put a coating layer first.

As for original ideas............. sorry can't think of anything atm. Hope you do find some good ideas and take pics when you're done !

I suggest a paper bag with holes in it... it does marvels for uniqueness, you can assume no one else in your class would ever think of doing that
