Hey, any developers here want to make a painting program pref in some rapid prototype operating system (not Windows but compatible with Windows.. eh any ideas?) especially suited for myself and other digital painters.
Key features it would need to have:
Concept driven user interface with maximum
simplicity and customization
Realistic painting tools. Ultra realistic pencil, pen, charcoal, chalk, oil, and other tools. Plus, preferably these would not have fixed properties such that one could "cheat". This would need to be 3d driven for maximum realism. These would need to, also, be intergrated such that all tools will work on all layer settings.
Simple digital painting tools ala Photoshop.
Layers
Tablet support
History support, Last Brush Histories, User Definable Short Cut Keys
Optimization (fast)
Good color support for printing/painting but also especially easy to create gradients (sorta like Maya's ramp function) that could be then put into gradients that could be selected (basically hyper-palettes)
Special "digital" paint tools that would accomplish task such as blending, texturizing, lighting, darkening, etc.
Variable zoom
Limited file support (jpg, psd, custom)
Pref support for high resolution
Short cut keys for changing color (ie based on ramp and scale) and for changing brush size.. ie I could press [ and get go 10% down on ramp or press P and go 30% down on ramp.. likewise same for brushes
Plenty of user interface customization (like pop up full screen, pop up view etc, ++ the ability to change the background color of the window to something like black for maximum discrepancies viewing).
-------------
Basically, something like painter but without the bad interface and design desiscions. Also, it would not have the bugs, hopefully.
It would be something like "photoshop" on steriods with more of a 3d look and "concept" driven properties. It would lack any web graphics support but would have the selection and layer support.
I'll design it and someone can code it for me. Wait, I think I'm dreaming again..
