Sorry if this question has been answered several times already, but I searched and couldn't find anything.
What programs are out there for conference painting (when two or more people work together on one picture at the same time over the internet)? I believe there was an Instant Messaging program (Powwow?) that allowed this to a certain degree.
I read in a Magazine Article that Painter 7 allowed this as well, however, when I checked it out at a friend's place, I could not find the feature. Does anyone know if it is avaialable, if a special patch is needed, or if I might just be blind?
If you know of any other program(plugin?, maybe for Photoshop?) supporting this, please let me know as well. Thanks a lot in advance!! |

Its generally known as 'paintchat'
They are usually Java applets, or something web based. You login and paint away with lots of different ppl. Do antoher search for 'paintchat'.

If you're using windows, you can use Microsoft Netmeeting to share any application you like, I've successfully used it with Photoshop a couple of times on a slow 56K modem ... and it went pretty well ... if you're on a faster connecton you'll be laughing ...
The Painter feature you're asking about is called "Net Painter" and was supported until Painter 6.x as far as I know ... I don't think it is part of Painter 7 ... I never used it myself .. you can still get the documentation for it at Metacreations site ... the link is [edit] oops ... actually the PDF-link from Metacreations is not working ... try searching for "NetPainter.pdf" on google ... and a couple of good links will come up ...[/edit] You can get the PDF documentation for it there too ...
... here's a Painter link thrown in for good measure too ...
http://thepluginsite.com/resources/painter.htm
and another one ... this one is HUGE ...!!!

Thanks for the help everyone! Through a helpful email I found the feature Netpainter. It's quite neat, but the problem is only one person can work at once.
I might try that Netmeeting solution with Photoshop, thanks for the tip! |

There's another stand alone program called Opencanvas that supports network collaboration up to 4 people I believe. It's a Japanese program but includes an english mode and also includes a feature where you can save paintings as a playback file and play them back.
The current beta is shareware, however, so if you want to use opencanvas you might want to look for version 1.1 beta 70 or beta 71 |
