Hey I've been trying to learn Painter 7 better as I have decided that it is better than Photoshop at simulating traditional media. I feel I know Photoshop pretty well now, but I get frustrated when I used painter because I can't seem to ween myself from using a ton of Photoshop shortcut keys when I work.. it's just habit.

So bottom line, is there somewhere where I can print out a list of all the shortcut keys for Painter 7 on one or two pages (3?). I want to pin this up next to my computer so I can be more efficient in painter. I remember Painter 6 had something like this but I can't seem to find it in Painter 7 (maybe I didn't look hard enough though). Any help would be appreciated... I am done rambling now Thanks!

Hi,

Painter Developer John Derry to the rescue!

John very kindly sent me his Visual Guides for Painter 7 Water Colors, Liquid Ink, and Keystroke Shortcuts to host on my site shortly after Painter 7 was released.

You can download these PDF files and also get a lot of other useful Painter 7 information by following the links on the right side of the PixelAlley Section Links Page. The URL is below my signature.

There are other ways to speed things up too.. take a look at the Painter 7 User Guide and read about creating custom palettes, saving palette layouts, and turning off palette sections that aren't used much. You'll find this info in Chapter 2, The Workspace in the sections named Customizing the Workspace Menus and Palettes and Setting Palette Layout.

To display/not display palette sections:

Edit > Preferences > Palettes, then choose either Art Materials, Brush Controls, or Objects and check/uncheck the sections you want to display or not display.

To program the function keys, read Chapter 3 Basics, the section named Function Keys on page 49:

Edit > Preferences > Function Keys
