just wondering anyone know of places that hire students for the summer...especially in TO..

if i gotta find a job it might as well be one that lets me work towards my career.

I assume you're looking for an art-related job. If you are, that's very, very tough to find in the Toronto area. Most summer art jobs are taken by co-op students in the graphic design, animation or architectural programs.

If you can get in to a co-op with your school, then chances are they will keep you on for the summer (as they won't have to retrain someone).

yea man...i did coop with a design shop through my school.


ever hear of Circus Design Group?....its on martin grove and steeles.

and if you really dont care about money then go around asking if you can shadow a designer... and help out and shit...

Circus Design Group - no, I'm afraid I haven't heard of it. I'm not in the graphic design industry though.

Job Shadowing is a great idea - tons of great experience...

Honestly though, getting a summer-job in the art/design industry is a very rare thing - simply because it usually takes 3 months at least in a position to get you trained at doing things the way a studios needs you to do them - regardless of whether you've gone to art school or not.

I always ended up working during the summer at something totally different anyway - landscaping, as a computer technician, retail sales...etc...
