I hate forwarding information, etc about stuff so I don't sound like one of the gullible people that forward hoax emails, etc.. but please check out the legit links from below:
New Law will Cripple the IT industry and the Internet and could possibly ban Linux, Perl, Apache and game mods, and much much more
http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,51274-2,00.html
Another article on how the Law with Cripple the computer industry
http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,51275,00.html
Here's what you can do:
A) Join http://www.eff.com they are also against the LAW! and will fight it to
the supreme court (It only costs 20-35 bucks! to join )
And OR
B) Join http://www.aclu.org They are also against the New Law and
will also fight it too! (It only costs 20-35 bucks! to join )
or, in my case send letters and emails to your local congress people and senators:
http://www.senate.gov http://www.whitehouse.gov http://www.house.gov
Let them know how you feel, only letting everyone know about this poor vague law can anything be done correctively to stop it. By their vague defition of this law even art online would be grounds for offense, even if we created it!
/me steps off of soap box. |

I don't see in what way this law could cripple digital artists!!!
We're not giving anything for free anyway, are we? |

not artists... developers... there is a difference.
Anyways, if this law came to be, couldn't we all just go for server side scripting, thus not downloading anything to the users computer, thus not making him/her an importer? If all the actions and code is stored on the server and only performed on the server, there isn't actually anything passing over boundaries anywhere... although this would limit developers immensly it would be a way around it... you could have an online operating system running at some server in finland if you wanted to run linux... stupid feckers though... |

(Whats with these government people?) You say? It's Hollywood and Music Industry yet again. They influence (Control) Culture, politics and the government.
Hollywood's lobbyists have a bigger voice than you and I.
I respect copyright but I think this is going to far! http://www.wired.com/news/politics/0,1283,51072,00.html

Yet another politician(s) influenced by the immence amount of money poured into Lobbyists and campaign funds to further subdue the layman. This bill is nonsense just like every thing that has been passed since the DMCA (Digital Millineum Copyright Act). Controls shall be always placed on people until they wake up an realize their stake in the government. This is the reason why we should vote, because our opinion counts. Boycots can be used to show Hollywood, the MPAA (Movie Picture Association of America) and Washington that we are not pleased with the soft money, the bullshit, if you will, that they have so flagrently thrown around. If you are enraged like I am, do some research, email your representatives, take action against this monstrosity that is corporate america. Use your judgement and take action. I know that the American ingenuity of past generations only lays dormant in my generation and others. We must tell them who is master and who is consumer. Read on! |
