Just wanted to ask what size tablet do you use since I'm planning on getting one. Also, what model.

Wacom 9x12 Intuos (the first version) serial version for PC. The 3d mouse is worthless for my use, but the tablet is just the right size for putting it on my lap, or on the table top. I tried other brands and the Graphire versions, in my opinion, I would buy nothing less than a full on Wacom. The one size smaller than the version I bought is also a nice size, so it depends on what you like. I wouldn't get a 4x5 or whatever the smallest size is though.....its too finger dexterity intensive from my use.

9 x 12 Wacom configured in portrait mode and flipped 90 degrees... on a 2 monitor system ( monitors on top of each other) My effective drawing area is 6 x 9, i.e. the bottom half of the Wacom surface. The top half is for the top monitor which holds resources, reference material, etc.

I have two monitors side by side and a 6*9 (8.5!!) wacom. Since the wacom covers both screens, this thread brought home the fact that I am really painting on a 4.25 inch wide tablet! Also, the aspect ratio is all screwy. An inch horizontally on the tablet is much longer on screen than and inch vertically. I have not noticed this and when I work on another machine, there is no transitional period. It should be like wearing someone else's glasses, you would think.

For a long time I was against using the tablet. I owned one to try it out, but never used it. I am always trying to simplify my work and covering up lack of thinking with gestural marks was not where I wanted to go. I think I can use it now without abusing it

I use a wacom 9x12, which is a nice, comfortable size. However, I've worked with a 6x8 as well, and it worked just fine.

I used to have a little Serial port oooold Wacom, but it died a few months ago, and just yesterday i picked up a new tablet.. a nice large (8x6) Aiptek USB tablet from CompUSA for 99.99 and until March 9th they're 30 bucks off (instant rebate, not mail-in, so just 69.99 for an 8x6 tablet.. that's pretty nice.) Same pressure sens as the Wacom Graphires and I have no complaints about it so far.

4x5 Wacom Graphire2. i thought the small size would be limiting but i really havn't noticed it limiting in any way so far. i've used the big 12x12 or whatever ones we have in class and they're almost too big. i would like to have a 9x12 intuos, but i couldn't afford it at the time.

you can see some stuff i've done with it at the links in my signature.

I used, during 8 months, the Wacom Intuos 6x8, which wasn't appropriate to my movements' habit.
Now, since a half year, I use a 12x12 which gives me more degree of freedom.
