I think I'm going to give up with my Ati Radeon 8500 'cause of flickering screen in second monitor. So what cards would you suggest for using photoshop (good dual monitor support needful) and for playing games(secondary need, but almost MUST . If just Matrox G550 would have better gaming attributes. The choice would be very clear.

Or does Matrox suck with games so much than I think? Anyway I'm very open for your suggestions.

Thank you!

They support dual monitor, a bit expensive though.

Traa_vuz: Hmm... Haven't heard such a card before. Have to search some information...

Dr.Bang: Do you know any sites where gf4 is reviewed? Anyway it isn't available in Finland currently. :/

btw. what mainboard you have?! Ati advertises that Radeon 8500 has only problems with some Epox mainboards... I have Asus A7A266 And there should not be problems with it... The seller of my Radeon said that flickering is very common problem with 8500 and suggest me to change the card to something else.

Wait for the geforce 4's. The lowest TI 4200 I think is only 200 bucks and well wipes most of whats out there now all over the floor. I am sure there will be a dually setup available. Or you can buy a decent gefroce 2 or 3 for cheap when the new run comes out. Release date is supposed to be within a few weeks.

Jucas: It's cheap there in usa but in finlad the price is really going to be 459€! (it's pretty same in dollars.) Maybe I should order it straight from US. But I haven't ordered anything before from abroad. So don't really know how it will work practically.

Dr.Bang: yep.

Tepox ... here is some more informations on visiontek products. I've done resaerch before buying this brand and have heard that they actually provide most oem products to quite a few other companies out there. See and learn for yourself

I know(i work in the computerbranche)that Matrox has virtually the best graphic cards made for professional use.... They are not great in 3d gaming, but there perfect for photoshop, flash you name it. I beleave that only ATI has a better one but not if you compare quality with the price.

So if your not a pc "gamer" i would recomend Matrox...

I LOVE my Radeon 8500 - no flicker here either - perhaps you do have a bad card...

i bought a matrox before this! It quality is not as good as radeon if u run dual monitor.

The matrox one will produce very blurry focus on the 2nd monitor.

This doesnt happen on Radeon due to the fact that Radeon has a higher Ramdac speed.

Traa_vuz: So it's gf2 card and MX version. I don't think I'm too interested, anyway thanks for the suggestion.

Heiny: I agree with you. But games are so cool

aO:I would love my Radeon also, but that flickering... *stupid flickering go away!*

Dr.Bang: Interesting... so the Matrox isn't perfect after all.

Maybe I should change my dear Asus mainboard... sniff. I want my Radeon to work... But first I'm going to try other R8500.

just a thought before you spend any money: you know that flickering can be caused by interference between the monitors? It might not be the card at all!

My 2nd monitor flickers if both are set to 85hz refresh rate, so I have to set it to 72hz to prevent this. To find out if that is your problem you may want to try moving the monitors further apart or setting different rates/resolutions on them to see if that fixes your problem.
