I'm about to purchase an Intuos Wacom pad and I have a few questions if someone would please answer them. My main question, is bigger better? I have a choice between:
Intuos 12x12
Intuos 6x8
Intuos2 4x5
Is 6x8 better because of the size ratio or is 12x12 better because of its pure larger work area? So, to refrase the question, Is bigger better? |

Depends on how you draw, I guess. If you're like me, drawing small, without moving your hand too much, I'd consider the A5-sized tablet. |

This is something I've wondered about myself. Does a larger tablet give curves a better curve than a smaller tablet, simply because there are probably more of those little electrical pulses being sent to the graphics program... Not very technically put, but I think I am getting my question across... |

I have a 4x5 Intuos 2 and I design and paint on it all day everyday professionaly. I like it and it is small enough to fit on my desk easily. If you use long brush stroke you may want a bigger one though. |

Hey Grim911,
Regarding your question about A4 & A5 ...
They are : International Standard Paper Sizes
The ISO (International Standards Organisation) paper sizes are based on the metric system.
Format A0 has an area of one square metre. Format A1 is A0 cut into two equal pieces, i.e. A1 is as high as A0 is wide and A1 is half as wide as A0 is high. All smaller A series are defined in the same way by cutting the next larger format in the series parallel to its shorter side into two equal pieces.
For applications where the ISO A series does not provide an adequate format, the B series has been introduced to cover a wider range of paper sizes. The C series of formats has been defined for envelopes.
___|_Millimeter__|____Inches_____
A0 = 841  1189 = 33.11  46.81
A1 = 594  841 = 23.39  33.11
A2 = 420  594 = 16.54  23.39
A3 = 297  420 = 11.69  16.54
A4 = 210  297 = 8.27  11.69
A5 = 148  210 = 5.83  8.27
It works like this ...

Well if I were to get a larger Wacom, wouldn't it be the same as a small one also, if I wanted to do small stuff I could just put on a smaller drawing? Or does the paper have to equal the working area size? |
