Heya... I don't hang around forums but some of you may know me as Grimspoon or Grimboi. I dabble in GFX, you can look me up through the signature link. Anyhow, read on...
I would like to introduce you to a new online Gallery of PixelPrintz.
It's the place where we hope to display works of some of the best pixel manipulators around.. hence the double meaning of Printz in the name. So yes, we could say that this is the place for printz of pixels and we happen to offer their images as prints for online purchase. Well, we couldn't think of anything better at the time :/
The site is owned and ran by digital artists themselves, and is manly geared to service their needs as well as of all the participating members. To provide for the maintenance of the gallery and some kind of return for the artists participation we provide eCommerce facilities and have set up a rather nifty online publishing process. There are many more revisions coming up in the Ver. 2, like a non-exclusive publishing option for all the members, tutorial section, GFX workshops and digital artist directory listings.
The success of any such venture depends on the artist participation, but it's important to understand that this was started because it is becoming increasingly difficult to maintain a healthy and 'free' GFX community site without some form of revenue being generated. The choice we had was advertising banners, subscriptions and our own store facilities. We don't want banners nor subscriptions unless we have something useful to offer in return. The site code and the whole process has had intensive testing and we had very favourable feedback about the quality of our merchandise and service. Now we need 'content' to attract wider community interest.
We offer two types of memberships, Resident Artist and Basic Membership.
Anyone can apply for Resident Artist status and inclusions are determined not so much on the ability that each artist possesses, but also on their suitability for the inclusion at that particular time. PP is not the 'coolest site' nor we have any ambitions towards world domination, it's more of an experiment and foray into a new generation of self contained GFX sites.
If you would like to participate, visit the site and have a look around... but excuse the mess, admins are a crazy bunch. I am mainly posting this on the boards to get your feedback as far as what 'you' as digital artists would like to see, and generally, what is your opinion about a 'validity' of digital art as a legit art platform. Is some of it good enough to be offered for sale and displayed in the 'real world' galleries? |

Hey balistic, it seams the guys like what you have.. you have been voted in as a resident artist.
Hopefully, this week the site will be moved to new servers so we can get the fresh code running.
Thanks for participating. |
