Bump,

Painter 7, or any full version of Painter is vastly "better" than Painter Classic.

Painter Classic is a sampler of only some things in the full version on which it was based. That was Painter 5 which is now three versions behind the times. Since then we've had Painter 5.5, 6, and now Painter 7.

There is so much more in Painter 7 that it's impossible to list it all.

Briefly, it has Layers, Water Color Layers, Liquid Ink Layers, Dynamic Layers, oodles of new brush categories and each with a long list of brush variants. Painter 7 introduced the completely new Water Color technology, Liquid Ink, and Tinting brushes.

It's an amazing program and you'll just be happy you were introduced to full Painter by having Painter Classic.

My recommendation is to buy Painter 7 as soon as you can and join in the fun.

P.S. Here are a couple of links so you can learn about Painter 7:
http://www.computerarts.co.uk/news/painter7/

The reason you're not finding much about Painter Classic is that Corel isn't selling it and never did. It was a Metacreations product before Metacreations sold Painter to Corel. Though Corel now owns Painter Classic, they don't sell or support it.

Bump,

When you get Painter 7, come visit us in the Painter forum at In Depth Discussions. The URL is below my signature. On the main page, scroll down to the bottom and click the link named "Painter Can". That's our new forum name, partially in fond remembrance of Painter's traditional packaging from the early days before Corel became its owner.... a big paint can that held the User Guide and software. I've collected three of them. The new forum name also says... Painter **can** do marvelous things.

It's a great place to learn Painter and share techniques and custom brush variants.. among other things.

Also go to the PixelAlley Section Links Page (URL below my signature) and on the right side of the page you'll find links to lots of helpful Painter 7 information along with some tutorials.

You'll need to install the Painter 7 Update if it's not included on your CD, so let me know if you need to do that and I'll send you the direct URLs to all of the files in the Painter 7 Update package. (Some people had a lot of trouble getting them from the Procreate site, so I put together the URLs to make it easier for them.)

Happy Painting!
