I know some people from here are members over there. I have gone a few times to look, and I have bookmarked the site. Now however all links are going to this Sea Horse Inn. Is this some server error or is it, some cool divertion to the website.
I am so lost

Yeah, the pop-ups suck, but the board is one of the best collections of truly talented artists on the net. Worth wading through the ads... |

Shane's board is a good break away from sijun:
1)people are more polite there/easy going.
2)the collective style is drastically different, and they look up to very different artists(usually cartoonists and animators).
3)The drawing class section ROCKS. |

Wow - that is a great site and a welcome alternative to sijun; however...
Those popups...that's precisely the kind of stuff that gives the web a bad rap. It's terrible!! Close one...another pops...maximized...
I could actually live with it if it were just the main page views, but it happens when you click on a thread...it happens when you go back...click on a new thread...bamm! That is the biggest crock I have ever encountered! It's a disaster!!
I have no mercy for the idiots that present that sort of thing; it's a huge distraction and major pain in the RumpusRazore (that would be "ass"). It is how the web should not be! If it's voluntary on their part, then I am not impressed at all. If that's the kind of crap I have to go through to get to your content, then screw it - I'm gone. Chances are it has to do with their hosting, and if that's the case I would go elsewhere for my hosting solutions.

They don't bother me too much. I deal with them on too many sites to notice the difference.
BTW, any Drawing Board people that came over to sijun? Lots of sijun guys started going to Drawing Board, but it doesn't seem to happen the other way around? |

There are many programs out there that kill auto pop up windows before they get a chance to launch. Im not talking about when you click on a link just windows that auto pop. Though there are sites when you do want the pop up window

People choose to go to Shane's board because of the great environment and even better people. No one asked them to be there. It isn't like Shane is advertising anything. He just happened to add an ezboard to his site, and it just happened to grow by leaps and bounds because it is a great place to browse, post, or just hang with other artists. No egos, no attitudes. For that, I am willing to click away a few ads. |

Vanhoozer -
I don't think anyone here is dogging Shane's site for it's content delivery. I believe I speak for everyone here when I say his site is an invaluable resource for us all.
I do however stand firm by my arguments concerning the misuse of pop-ups. I corresponded with Shane concerning the matter, and eveh admits that they "are a constant problem" and further stated he cannot control the situation; this is due primarily in part to the type of account he has with EZBoard.
So if you're like some folks and don't mind having multiple windows spawning...and spawning...and spawning, then so be it, but if you're like some including myself and find it to be extremely annoying, then get some of that there pop-up killin' software!
"Jed!! Jeeeeed!!"
"Hold on there Granny - whar you goin with thar shotgun?"
"Thers popups on th' screen, and I aint gonna stand fer it no mer!!"
So let's give this one a rest or save for another forum!

regarding popup killers I'd have to say my all around ie browser extention has to be netcaptor (www.netcaptor.com)
it opens every window in one window (it's sort of like a browser extention of windows) and you can select which sites you want to not be able to use popups...
works great and is REALLY comfortable... |
