I need your help guys, I have some carvings and I would like to mass produce the for sale. does anyone know how to do this?
Question: what do u use to make the mold with, I was thinking about a simi flexible mold.
Question: what type of resen would u use to make something like this.
Im sure you have all seen these statues in stores, I want to make some!
I heard someone call it Hydrastone. I have no idea if anyone has any info I would realy apreciate it.
I want to use a type of plastic Plastic casting but I dont want it to look like plastic I want the plastic to look like stone, I guess I will have to experament with it. The example gargoial I used is something I bought in a science store im sure some of you have seen these before they have a stone look but are some type of plastic. I need to find out a good way to mas produce these.
Any books you can recomend??

I don't know a lot about this, but i think the material is also known as Stone-Resin.
It's (as far as i know) a polyester resin with stone dust mixed into it.
You make the mold usually with a solid jacket (fibreglass i think) that you fill with a liquid rubber (hot or cold depending on type and material of subject to be molded) once this sets, cut it open - remove your original - you're ready to start production
[edit](i may be over-simplifying this a bit)
I also found a link to a US supplier of this sort of casting/sculpting stuff - including Books ( yay )
Dick Blick
Hope this is some use to you
