Ok so I have been working on the visualization of a retirement home for the past weeks.
My deadline is coming up..next monday everything needs to be rendered and ready for the video department.
Everything was pretty much done yesterday. Then I send my stuff to the renderfarm. It crashes...after that everything just slowly crumbles away. Crashes...objects that won't render.. I am in deep shit again.
It's just REALLY bothering me that every fucking time I work on a big scene I will eventually end up in this situation. I just sit here staring at my screen..the only way I am going to be able to render all this would be pure luck. My weekend is probably a goner...
WHY THE FUCK DID I EVER THINK 3D WAS COOL?!?!?!?!

Sorry for the rant guys

How big do all the textures max files take up?

ICQ me at 92230509 and send me the files. I've been maxing for many years and have an extreme handle on Max and its rendering aspects.

3d isnt cool at all, but if it crashed - did it try to save the file in /backup or someplace?

If you're having such problems, one way to possibly salvage some work is to perhaps render multiple images with alpha and composite... simplifying the rendering passes and requirements. I understand your pain... best of luck.

Thanks for the advice guys. Although I was more just venting my anger than asking for advice. I've cooled down a bit. Although I would still like to see someone bomb discreet.
I ended up going back to backup files. But I had to go back more than a day. Which is not very fun when it's friday afternoon and the renderings have to done by monday morning.
So I worked all of sunday and made up for it. I had to coax every computer om my floor to render a few frames. But I ended up with the complete bunch. Thank god...

anyways..thanks guys...
