Argh! Illustrator is starting to really piss me off. I'm trying to export an image as a jpg but it is not viewable. I've tried also importing the file into Photoshop but the same thing happens. The files were created in Illustrator 8 on a Mac, and I'm now opening them in Illustrator 9 on my PC... do you think maybe that is the reason its doing that? If so, what can I do about it? Any help is greatly appreciated.

just another hack that you can use if you have another of these problems - press print screen. if you want a higher resolution - enlarge the image then printscreen it a few times while moving it around and then arrange the peices in photoshop. blah - I do it all the time to export swf images for print (the colours go funny if you export to .ai or .eps). unless you know a better way id like to hear it please.

Well I am not exactly sure what you are trying to do. But...
I remember I was working together with a friend of mine who does a lot of work in illustrator on a mac. The jpg's he would send me would always be in cmyk. Wich means they won't work in a lot of programs (Like Internet Explorer for instance)
So maybe you have to convert them to rgb mode.
Excuse me if this was an utter waste of your time.

When converting it to web, either open the native .ai file in photoshop then do whateveer and save as a jpg, or save it as .eps in illustrator and open in in photoshop.
